i can’t exactly remember when i first started drawing. there was no dramatic “aha” moment — just a quiet, growing excitement every time my ninang sent over a balikbayan box from abroad. inside, there were always kids’ magazines, teen journals, planners, almanacs, or autograph books. i’d read every page, then try to make my own from scratch. i’d fill those pages with doodles, fake articles, fake ads — whole imaginary worlds. and when it came to autograph books, i’d either write heartfelt notes or pester my classmates to fill them out, just to make the pages feel alive.
that’s probably where it all started: a love for documenting, storytelling, and making something out of nothing.
before i officially entered art school, i studied computer science. i thought i was headed for a career in tech — and while i pivoted toward the arts, the structure and problem-solving mindset i learned stuck with me. it’s what led me to ui/ux design, where i found a sweet spot between logic and creativity. i still enjoy it now — thinking about how people move through digital spaces, and how design can quietly guide or delight them.
today, i go by forsane — a multimedia artist based in the philippines, known for bold, hand-drawn digital illustrations that exist somewhere between comics, emotion, and pop culture. by day, i work as a glass artist. by night, i serve as a content executive for fttm, a digital advertising company that specializes in organic, witty content with over 4 million followers on facebook. and on weekends, i sit on sidewalks or at booths, drawing portraits of strangers — sometimes for keeps, sometimes for fleeting connection.
i also founded itshuebabe, a portrait collective under the busking community ph. what began as a passion project has grown into a group invited by brands to pop up at events — one of our biggest moments was setting up a live portrait booth at big bad wolf in glorietta activity center in 2024.
in the music world, i’ve slowly found my lane as an album cover illustrator. i’ve worked with both up-and-coming and notable names in the industry. two of my pieces were featured on spotify’s fresh finds in 2023 and on wish 107.5 in 2024. the following year, i was featured on national television, showtime — a surreal moment, honestly. but nothing beats the feeling when a musician says, “this looks exactly how my song sounds.”
i never really mapped out this path. i just followed the spark that started with a balikbayan box — and somehow, it led me here.
if you’re looking to collaborate, commission a piece, or just talk about art, i’m all ears.
